Like many musical societies, we find that subscriptions and ticket sales don’t cover the cost of each concert. We have several other schemes to raise extra money, and we hope that in time you will want to join one or more of these.

100 Club

Members of the 100 Club buy shares and are then entered in regular draws for cash prizes. The remainder of the money goes to GCS’s General Fund. Since its inception the 100 Club has contributed £2950 to this fund. A couple of years ago it was decided that any donations from the 100 Club would be used to help fund one or more extra special soloists each year. Shares cost £12 per year, you can join at any time during the year, and there is no limit to the number of shares you can buy. Normal payment is by quarterly standing order, £3 per share per quarter, but if you prefer you can pay for a full year in advance by cheque or cash. The value of prizes depends on the amount subscribed. In the 2013-2014 season, we will have a draw each month from September to May with two prizes available each time (£50 and £25 each month, except for the December draw which will be £100 and £50). To join, fill in the application form and hand it to Paul Collins (Bass 2) at the next rehearsal. If you have any questions, please ask Paul – you can contact him on 100club@gloucesterchoral.com. Patrons & Friends

The Patrons & Friends scheme is open both to singing members and to those outside the society. Patrons and friends are entitled to reduced ticket prices and are acknowledged publicly on the website and in our concert programmes. Patrons are entitled to additional benefits. See the Patrons & Friends page to find out more or email David Holmes on patronsandfriends@gloucesterchoral.com.

Hire the Choir

This is a new venture started in 2013 which gives members the opportunity to sing in a chamber choir context to sing at weddings, parties, funerals, corporate events. This will mean that the singers have fun in learning new styles and gaining greater confidence. It is also going to raise funds for GCS at the same time as increasing our profile. If you are interested in joining the group of singers (40 to 50 to form a pool from which choirs of approximately 20 will be chosen per event on the basis that everyone in the pool gets an equal number of opportunities), please email hirethechoir@gloucesterchoral.com.
