New season of live choral music announced for 2021/22

Yes, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for: Gloucester Choral Society is back in Autumn 2021. To celebrate our return to live choral music, we’ll be getting off to a flying start with The Creation, Haydn’s highly popular and joyous choral work. We’ll then be getting into the festive spirit with Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and – of course – Carols for All.

After a few mince pies and that January gym phase is done, our first concert of 2022 will feature some of our favourite music by Stanford, with Faure’s Requiem being a worthy headline act. You won’t be kept waiting much longer for more springtime singing as we’ll be celebrating 150 years of Ralph Vaughan Williams with a compilation of some his finest choral compositions, including the Mass in G minor.

It’s not just the season programme that’s new. This year, we’ve revamped the ticket structure so that more people can benefit from discounted tickets. So if you’re a student looking for an enjoyable evening’s entertainment, or a parent/guardian wanting to introduce your young person to live choral music, we’ve made sure that our concerts are more accessible to our audience, new and old.

But the good news doesn’t stop there. To help our audience feel as safe as possible in returning to live performances at Gloucester Cathedral, we’ll be accepting contactless and card payments on the door for tickets and programmes. You can of course still buy and print your own tickets through our box office. Just follow the links from the event pages of our website to secure your seats in advance.

Priority booking for all concerts opens to Patrons and Friends on Monday 5th July at 10am, with general sale commencing on Monday 12th July at 10am.
