[one_half_last]

This unique event coincides with Gloucester Cathedral’s commemoration of the end of the First World War,

Gloucester Choral Society will stage a concert centred on Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, one of the most-performed works of our time.

The work will be accompanied by a specially created film, to be shown on a large screen in the nave. The film was designed to enhance Jenkins’ haunting score through thought-provoking visual poignancy.

The programme will also include:

Bruckner – Locus Iste

Fauré – Cantique de Jean Racine

Tallis – If Ye Love Me

Rutter – A Gaelic Blessing

WHY UNIQUE?

Because GCS is inviting guest singers to “COME AND SING” in this exciting and moving project.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

There are three, two hour rehearsals in Gloucester on Mondays 15th & 29th October and 5th November; there are also two rehearsals (am & pm) on the day of the concert. The only compulsory rehearsals are on the day itself.

All Monday rehearsals are in the Chapter House at Gloucester Cathedral starting at 7:30pm and lasting for two hours.

On the day of the concert, the rehearsals will be in the Cathedral, the Chapter House and the Parliament Room (which is also where lunch will be served)

Precise timings we be emailed to you before the day.

All the necessary music will be provided and there is the option for a light lunch on the day

COST?

Singers will pay £30 (no lunch) or £35 (with lunch)

Please note there are separate buttons to book tickets for singers as distinct from audience

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Once singers have booked, we will email an information sheet with more details of timings and venues.

We look forward to seeing you!
